Trending domain name keywords: stem cell, marijuana, dispensary, association

The top 10 trending keywords registered in .COM and .NET domain names during the month of January 2018 were published by Verisign, the .com and .net registry.

There are no common keywords in the 2 lists.

You can find the list from last month here.

This doesn’t mean that crypto domains are out of fashion. If there were 10,000 “crypto” domains registered last month and 10,000 registered this month then “crypto” would not appear in the lists below.

My experience shows that only 2 or 3 new thousand domain registrations are enough to bring a keyword into the top 10.

Top 10 Keyword Registration Trends for .COM and .NET in January 2018:

.COM

.NET

near association
cell therapy
dispensary career
stem plans
claim marijuana
centers account
hole away
residential bang
nano being
cane hop

*Note: Each list was developed by examining keyword registration growth relative to the preceding month, such that those keywords with the highest percentage of registration growth are being reported on. This method is used to eliminate commonly registered keywords, such as “online” and “shop,” to provide a true look at monthly trends. In order to be included, a keyword must experience a minimum threshold in registration growth month over month. Qualifying keywords with the highest volume of registrations are then ranked and included in the list.

If you’d like to do your own domain name keyword research, check out Verisign DomainScope, a tool that allows you to enter keywords to see registration trends in .com and .net.

  1. “NearMe” domains still going strong after a few years.

Crypto and coin domains are even crazier. Even domains that don’t make sense are being registered.

  2. Interesting how “crypto” and “coin” type names are not showing because it wouldn’t be considered trending since it has already been for the past few months. This is a great list to see though. Some , (near, plans, away, etc) seem weird as trending keywords so this is great info but I would still like to see the actual Top 10 keywords in each extension anyways to see if Crypto or coin type keywords are dropping off at all.

I had CryptoZoom.com close at $422 today at NJ. Back in Dec. CoinZoom.com sold for over 3k. I think the 2 are closely related so I am thinking those “crypto/coin” type reg’s could be dropping off a bit. Not sure.

    Thanks for the list!

  3. I have good marijuana domains

    marijuanadomain.com
    marijuanadealer.com
marijuanaguy.com and more and gets lots offers but not selling.

I have nanofalcon.com- the smallest drone.

    Dot com is KING!!!

  4. I run daily ‘trending keyword’ reports for domains added to the zone file.

A few weeks ago crypto and coin were even beating out common keywords like “shop”, “and”, & “of”.

    I wouldn’t worry so much about the coin/crypto drop-off.

The keyword “Crypto” usually hovers at the #20-#25 most registered term every day.
The keyword “Coin” has dropped down to #45 -#50.

They are still in demand, although not as much as when the BTC price was $20k.

To reply to Vito’s request for the unfiltered actual top 10 keywords, As Konstantinos has said in the footnote: “This method is used to eliminate commonly registered keywords, such as “online” and “shop,” to provide a true look at monthly trends.”

The actual top 10 keywords are filled with words like “The”, “And”, “online”, “shop”, “inc”, etc… words you can intuitively assume are the most popular.
