Meet The Attorney That Represents Attorneys In UDRPs

icannWebsite attorney Steven Rinehart recently won several new UDRP domain name disputes involving common law trademarks. Rinehart issued a press release about successfully establishing common law trademarks rights for two attorneys who were the target of libelous criticism websites (e.g. gripe sites), those domain names being <kendrickmoxon.com>, a California attorney; and <jonahhunt.com>, a Denver attorney.

Rinehart represents clients, with a few attorneys amongst them, in domain name disputes involving gTLDs before the National Arbitration Forum (NAF) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). His other recent domain name victories include the domain names: <excellencechocolate.com>, <greenhornetlighting.com>, and <acecapital.com>.

Utah patent attorney Steven Rinehart practices intellectual property law in the State of Utah, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and before the US Patent and Trademark Office.

“Because losses in UDRP domain name disputes must usually be appealed in the jurisdiction of the top-level domain registry, most UDRP appeals take place in the Eastern District of Virginia where VeriSign is located. VeriSign controls most of the gTLDs in the world including .com, .net, .info, and .org.”

Actually this is not quite accurate. UDRP domain disputes can be appealed in the jurisdiction of the registrant or the registrar but some choose to appeal in jurisdiction of the registry with variable results. And Verisign is only the registry of .com and .net.

“Rinehart is a licensed Virginia patent attorney who practices in the Eastern District of Virginia for this reason, and who has experience in appealing UDRP matters there.”

“If you are a party to a UDRP case which must be appealed, or an attorney representing a party having lost a UDRP case, Rinehart can help you protect your rights in Virginia’s Eastern US District Court.”

I don’t know the details of the cases Rinehart won but here the links to the decisions of the representative cases involved:
