Pocket Domain dropped 700+ .info domains from its Alfena registrar

Pocket Domain dropped 700+ .info domains from its Alfena registrar a few weeks back. Most of thedomains were registered during the 2003-2009 period.

Most of the domains were owned by PocketDomain that used to run a small backorder service calledDropCatcher.Info (or DropCatcher.org). PocketDomain runs a few registrars like Alfena and PocketDomain. Not sure what the current registrar count is now. The backorder service claimed to catch .com, .net, .org, .info and .mobi although it caught mostly .info and a few .org. I am not sure if the service is still available but I haven’t seen any .info caught by DropCatcher.Info for months.

PocketDomain.com displays just this message: “Apache is functioning normally”.

A few of the domains were owned by Charles Christopher, a very old member (ILikeInfo) of the domainname forum DomainState.com, and a few domains were owned by attorney Stevan Lieberman of Greenberg & Lieberman, LLC.

I believe that Stevan Lieberman was (of maybe still is) offering legal advice and services to PocketDomain.

A lot of the dropped domains were caught by backorder services and some were hand registered. Some got some decent prices in the auctions. Actually more about 400 of the 700 have since been registered with most of the 400 registered on the day of the drop. I got maybe 100 of them. I got great 1-word .info domainslike:

acronym.info
spare.info
deco.info
compilation.info
mods.info
d-d.info
materials.info
smash.info
draft.info
clients.info
wear.info
abbreviations.info
novice.info
decryption.info
acronyms.info
conquest.info
impulse.info
curse.info

The 700 dropped domains went mostly unnoticed and there were not a lot of auction wars. Here is the list of the top auctions prices:
clients.info $360
crowd.info $266
telecommunication.info $193
gonorrhea.info $138
deco.info $117
actresses.info $93

  1. Good names. Good job getting them.

  2. wow – if I had known about them, I would have maybe purchased a few.
