Manwin and ICM Registry come to agreement over 2011 dispute

Following a dispute that began in November 2011, Manwin and Manwin DP have come to an agreement with ICM Registry to bring the dispute to an end.

One of Manwin’s key motivations was to make .XXX pricing lower and more competitive.

Manwin has negotiated a lower price for newly-created .XXX domains created in the month of May 2013. .XXX domains will be made available to registrars at a substantially discounted wholesale price of USD$7.85, which is the current wholesale price of a .com. ICM will run similar price promotions in future years as well.

Furthermore, ICM has agreed to contribute USD$2 for every new .XXX domain name registration created after April 30, 2013. The monthly contribution will be made to a fund designated by Manwin to support the adult entertainment industry. These funds are in addition to ICM’s contributions to IFFOR.

Beyond the financial agreements, Manwin will now permit content from or advertising for .XXX websites on its Tube sites. In addition, Manwin related properties will allow websites hosted on .XXX sites to participate in any of its affiliate and promotional programs generally available to other website operators.

In the agreement ICM also acknowledges that websites hosted on their adult-specific TLDs are not the only responsible and safe adult content websites.

Both parties feel that these arrangements will set precedent for trade and consumer benefit and protection for the online space.

New .XXX domain registrations in May from $8.99 for up to 10 years

ICM Registry, the registry operator for the .XXX top level domain (TLD) for online adult entertainment, announced that new .XXX domain registrations created from May 1 through May 31, 2013 will be available at .COM prices. During this limited time only, registrants can lock in prices, as low as $ 8.99 for up to 10 years.

“With both Search.xxx and XXX.XXX showcasing and driving traffic to developed .XXX sites, together with the recent launch of the Search.xxx ad platform, there is a growing awareness of the value of the .XXX domain,” said CEO of ICM Registry, Stuart Lawley.

ICM is also making significant moves to protect .XXX participants with its recent applications to operate three additional adult entertainment-related TLDs — .SEX, .PORN and .ADULT. If awarded these new TLDs, ICM Registry will offer an unprecedented “grandfathering” clause and will automatically reserve matching names at no additional cost to those who already have .XXX domains. .XXX registrants can chose to do nothing and the matching names will never be released under the new TLD suffixes. If however, registrants choose to register the new names for use, there will be a nominal fee. This means .XXX domain holders can potentially quadruple their exposure and the value of their holdings, while brand and trademark holders who own or have reserved .XXX domain names are automatically protected and will not have to register or reserve those names in the new TLDs.

Each .XXX website is malware scanned to protect both website operators and consumers. Every .XXX site also comes with a MetaCert electronic Family Safety label making it easier for users, organizations and parents to adjust their browser settings to restrict access to websites that are clearly labeled as potentially adult oriented content.

“Our goal is to serve the adult industry by continually creating new initiatives and platforms that increase the inherent value of each .XXX website,” said Lawley.

ICM Registry sells ShemaleCam.xxx for $3,300 and confirms 27 more sales

The confirmed 46 sales reached $300,630 this week. ICM Registry has been offering a list of 1046 .xxx domain names for sale with prices. So far 55 domain names have been removed from this list and have been sold or a sale is pending. This week 1 more domains were sold and the previously reported sales of 25 .xxx were confirmed as whois was updated. Sales of Vids.xxx $10,230 and Vid.xxx $4,455 were also confirmed. The Search.xxx ad platform is now available and you can start using your Search.xxx ad credit beginning today.

Each account has been populated with the Ad Credit balances: $75 for each .XXX domain name registered. If you own an .xxx domain you can access your account here. The Ad Platform will allow you to directly enter text ads for placement on www.search.xxx and associate your ad with keywords that are being searched within the search engine.

  • How To Use Your Credits

    If you registered or renewed any .XXX domain name prior to Jan. 31, 2013, you were eligible for a $75 promotional credit per domain to apply towards advertisements through the Search.xxx Ad Program.*

    Activate your account

    Eligible participants received an email with the available credits, link to the Search.xxx Ad Platform, username, and temporary password. If you met the requirements to receive an ad credit and did not receive an email, please contact customer support at support@icmregistry.com.

    Create your ads

    Creating an ad is simple. Select the Create New Campaign, and follow the steps. Only campaigns with a destination URL and Display URL ending with .XXX will be approved.

Did the buyer of the domain Mobile.xxx also buy Mobil.xxx or not?

ICM Registry announced on the 4th of February the sale of the domain name Mobile.xxx to a European mobile experts SGM Media GmbH, the “SexGoesMobile” company. The domain was sold for $160,000 and ICM Registry also announced that the Mobile.xxx owner, SGM Media, also acquired 350 additional .xxx domains for its affiliate network.

While I believe that most of the additional .xxx domains were hand registrations I have some doubts as to who bought the domain name Mobil.xxx that I reported as sold on the 17th of January for $2,805. Was it SGM Media GmbH that bought the domain name just 2 weeks earlier that the purchase of Mobile.xxx or was it some other company?

Mobile.xxx whois details clearly SGM Media as the owner but Mobil.xxx is behind whois privacy. Both domains are registered with the Mesh Digital Limited (Domainmonster.com) that is a UK registrar that was recently acquired by Host Europe Group that is the largest privately-owned hosting group in Europe.

Or was it Mobil a major American oil company which merged with Exxon in 1999 to form ExxonMobil that got in time and bought Mobil.xxx defensibly?

ICM Registry drives a hard bargain: company bought 25 .xxx domains and got no discount

ICM Registry announced on the 14th of February the sale of 25 Premium Domains in a deal worth $185,000 to IRIS SARL, based in Luxembourg. ICM didn’t reveal the complete list of the domain names and the prices. I had reported the sale of these domains a week earlier and I had included the individual price for each domain name:

The total sales value of the 25 premium .xxx domains was $184,470 and the reported sales value, that was probably rounded off, was $185,000. This means that the prices ICM Registry has put for the list of 1046 premium .xxx domain names are firm and no further negotiations can be made. IRIS SARL didn’t get a discount and that was the second significant order from IRIS who previously acquired $650,000 of premium Names back in September 2012. If they couldn’t get a discount with that much volume then I think that no one else can.

ICM Registry sells 3 .xxx domains including Vids.xxx for $10,230

On Monday xbiz.com, an adult industry website, wrote that the domain mobile.xxx was sold for $160,000 to SexGoesMobile. A few weeks back the domain Mobil.xxx was sold for $2,805, while it is not clear yet if it was sold to SexGoesMobile. The article also said that SexGoesMobile’s parent company, Germany-based SGM Media GmbH, acquired also purchased 350 additional .xxx domains for its affiliate network. It is not yet clear if SexGoesMobile bought any of the 25 domains above.

.XXX Registry Sends $75 Search.xxx Ad Credits

ICM Registry, the .xxx registry, sent a $75 Search.xxx ad credit for each .xxx domain registered. Back in November ICM Registry announced that it was going to offer a $75 per-domain credit to existing owners of .XXX domain names that renew or register names by January 31, 2013.

The Search.xxx Ad Program is scheduled to launch by March 31, 2013. More details about the Ad Program and how your credits can be used will be released upon launch of the actual Ad Program. In the meantime, please go to http://icm.xxx/adprogram/ for current information about the Ad Credit offer.  At this point, you are NOT required to do anything. ICM Registry will notify you once the Ad Program is available and provide instructions on how to use use your credits. The credit is given towards future advertisements on its Search.xxx Ad Program. You will be able to apply all of your promotional credit(s) to ads for just one, or multiple, eligible .XXX websites associated with your .XXX Sponsored Community membership account. That means that if you own 100 .xxx domains and you only have 1 developed website then you can use the $7500 ad credit to promote that 1 website only.
