.London announced today that its domain name renewal rate is 75.4%.
This renewal rate is for a total of 38,389 names applied for during the Dot London combined Sunrise and Landrush period as well as the first day of General Availability, registered between August 19th and September 9th 2014. All domain renewals have passed their grace periods.
Dan Hill, Head of Dot London, said:
“We are pleased to announce that the renewal rates for Dot London domain names have exceeded expectations by reaching 75.4%.
As our aims are to both generate revenue for London and to create a lasting platform for London businesses to use, this is very positive news.
With over 70,000 registered domain names, we are grateful to the work and cooperation of all Registrars offering Dot London names and pleased that they will share the benefits of high renewal rates and the continued success of Dot London.”
70k? they barely have over 60k…. are they counting their own reserved domains?!?!
I guess they had a lot of inactive domains. Domains with no nameservers don’t appear in zone files. But I have checked the numbers.
is there a way to monitor .london dropping domains? would love to see the quality of names and perhaps grab a few.
It is a pretty good extension, given the real estate prices in london and the number of businesses if there are decent names the local businesses will want them. I guess another place similar is .nyc.
So I just did a simple site search on Google for .nyc, and it shows that Spencer here is way way off, and DK is way way right. Nothing but page after page after page of “huge adoption” of .nyc in the numerous pages I sampled; all developed and published end user sites apparently, and I did not see even a single parking page in the search results among the numerous pages I looked at.
You don’t get to see parked pages in google results unless you go way deep.
