NamesCon Warns Attendees About A Hotel Booking Scam

NamesConNamesCon issued a warning regarding the upcoming show at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. Attendants booking for the Jan 10 – Jan 13, 2016 show should be careful booking their hotel room.

I was at NamesCon last year and I will certainly be there this year too if all goes according to the plan. Have a look here at some photos to get you in the mood! And here

Here is the announcement:

Booking Your NamesCon Hotel: Important Information

It’s come to our attention that attendees from last year’s NamesCon have been contacted by cold callers misrepresenting themselves as agents for the Tropicana Hotel. If you receive ANY call regarding accommodations during NamesCon, please do not share your personal information or payment details with them. All bookings for NamesCon should be processed through our online booking page to ensure you are part of the NamesCon room block (you’ll receive swag and other goodies straight to your room!) and can safely access our special room pricing. If you wish to contact the Tropicana directly, simply refer to NamesCon while booking to ensure access our room block. The Tropicana will never contact you to request that you book, nor do they hire third-party companies to do so. Two aggressive cold-calling companies that have come to our attention are Exhibitor Housing Management and Exhibition Housing, calling from UK phone numbers – if you are contacted by either or these groups please hang up and notify the NamesCon team so that we can properly address these disruptive and misleading practices.
