This Is What The Internet Was Missing: A Nigerian Registrar

Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced the accreditation of Nigeria’s registrar, Upperlink, which makes the company the first Nigerian and the eighth accredited registrar in Africa.

I am not so sure this is what the internet and domain names was missing.

I am sorry to sound so negative but I wrote a post last month about how corrupted the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) that is the .ng ccTLD registry is. Upperlink is the leading .ng registrar.

Upperlink signed the 2013 RAA and can offer the following TLDs according to ICANN: .aero .asia .biz .cat .com .coop .info .jobs .mobi .museum .name .net .org .pro .tel .travel .xxx.

It is only a couple of days since ICANN suspended for 90 days the registrar that is behind the “Domain Registry of America” scam and a Nigerian registrar pops up.

I don’t know that Upperlink’s reputation is as a .ng registrar so I would like to hear about this company if anyone has any information.
