Matomy Media Group Acquires Team Internet (Parking Crew And DNTX)

Global digital performance-based marketing company Matomy Media Group today announced that it has acquired a majority ownership position in the Munich-based direct navigation search company Team Internet AG. As part of the deal, Matomy will increase its ownership stake in Team Internet from 20% to 70% and will integrate the company’s products into its multichannel suite of performance-based marketing capabilities.

Team Internet generated revenue of $23.3 million in 2013 with EBITDA of $4.16 million. The company will continue to be led by its three founders, under the direction of CEO Nico Zeifang, in synergy with Matomy’s global management team.

Commenting on the acquisition, Matomy CEO Ofer Druker said: “Team Internet has developed an innovative approach to incorporating performance-based marketing capabilities that are based on an optimization algorithm within the direct navigation business for both desktop and mobile devices. The company’s founders – CEO Nico Zeifang; Chief Operating Officer Stefan Wiegard; and Chief Technology Officer Mario Witte, along with the entire Team Internet team – will bring significant knowledge and capabilities to Matomy.

“This acquisition will enable us to broaden our scale and offer additional reach to our growing base of global advertising clients.”

Founded in 2010, Team Internet is comprised of two businesses: Parking Crew, which provides monetization services to domain owners; and DNTX, a performance-oriented marketplace for direct navigation search traffic for desktop and mobile devices.

Team Internet has established itself as a leader in the multi-billion-dollar domain monetization industry. The company currently reaches more than 100 million unique users per month, and its Parking Crew service has monetized more than 23 million domains over the last four years. In addition, the company processes more than 3 billion ad placement bids per month across its DNTX platform.

In November 2013, the company won the prestigious Deloitte Technology Fast 50 (Rising Stars) award for Germany.

“This is a defining move for the Team Internet business and our team,” said Zeifang. “With the support of Matomy and its global reach we will continue to accelerate our growth and increase our market share through the deployment of innovative technology and capabilities.”
