New gTLD Domain Sales: 3 sold for $3,000+ and 6 for $1,200+ each (wood.marketing, viral.marketing)

This past week the following 2 Donuts New gTLDs entered general availability with EAP: .marketing and .holiday.

The total Donuts EAP purchases from the first 3 EAP days is at about $16,200 or more depending on the premium domain names. This was a very slow week.

Some of the sales are difficult to find as a few domains don’t have nameserves and don’t appear in the zone files. Only sales over $1,000 are reported.

There was no domain name sold on the 1st day of the EAP for about $12,500 or more depending on the registration/renewal price (premium level or no premium).

There were 3 domain names sold on the 2nd day of the EAP for about $3,000 each or more depending on the registration/renewal prices (premium level or no premium):

wood.marketing (Birdseye International Inc.)
thai.holiday
(easythai.de)
thaikids.holiday
(easythai.de)

There were also 6 domain names bought at about $1200 each in the third day of EAP.

Mike Berkens and Worldwide Media Inc bought the domain name viral.marketing.

New favorite WarrenAccountants.com bought buzz.marketing and they actually paid for this one. Wow!

Bluecron.de bought the domain name interactive.marketing.

Grahamclarkphoto.com bought breakthrough.marketing.

I bought a couple of .marketing domains but all were after the 5th EAP day.

I also checked all the corresponding domain names in .com and found 1 domain that was sitting unregistered today:
thaikidsholidays.com

A lot of the registered .com domains are owned by domainers.

Ebay owns the domain name interactivemarketing.com.

Some of the purchases above might be higher that reported if the domain name is labeled as premium. Premium registration/renewals start at $50 and go all the up to $1500 per year. Prices are approximate and depend on what each registrar charges on top of the registry fee.

You can register a domain name using the Donuts EAP that is available in registrars that sell Donuts gTLDs. EAP prices start at about $12,500 and are lowered within the course of the week until they reach the regular registration cost after the 7 day period. The EAP wholesale registrar prices are:
$10,000 (day1)
$2,500 (day2)
$950 (day3)
$500 (day4)
$100 (days 5-7)

Go Daddy’s early access prices are at about $12,539.99 for day one, $3,164.99 for day two, $1,239.99 for day three, $689.99 for day four and $189.99 for days five to seven. After day seven the regular registration cost applies.

  1. Of the top 25 .marketing domains that we targeted, only three were available for registration and only one, viral, was available in EAP. I had written in my response to your post the week .training was available that it seemed Donuts in particular was reserving all the best names for itself. I now know that it is more a function of the day-in-the-life to which the registars must adhere if they use the accelerated procedure.

Do you have any insight as to when or how those will become available when the name collision issue is settled? Trying to find a good adult domain from the blocked SDL list was amusing to say the least. We found one, however, that did not go to North Shore (ahem, bigt*t.pics).

And before you praise Warren too much for finally buying one, take a look at when they got mobile.marketing and content.marketing, which were number three and number 10 on my list respectively. Well before EAP.
